Mohammed Qaisi

Dr. Mohammed Qaisi received his Medical Degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine-Shreveport, and his dental degree from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Qaisi completed his residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, and a two-year fellowship in Head & Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center. Dr. Qaisi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His clinical and research interests include the treatment of oral cavity cancers, jaw tumors, maxillofacial free flap reconstruction, and dental implant reconstruction ranging from single implants and immediate implants all the way through zygomatic implants and full arch reconstruction.

Dr. Qaisi is a pioneer in the field of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He was involved in the development and popularization of the Jaw in a Day procedure. This procedure allows for the removal of a jaw tumor and immediate mandibular reconstruction with fibular bone and dental implants in the same setting. Dr. Qaisi and his group were the second group in the country after New York University to perform and publish on the innovative technique.

Dr. Qaisi is committed to training the next generation of surgeons. He served as a full-time faculty at the University of Mississippi for two and a half years and subsequently at Cook County Health, where he served as the residency program director for six and half years. Dr. Qaisi is involved in clinical research and has published numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.

Dr. Qaisi is a site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Programs. He served in several leadership roles in different professional organizations including past president of the Illinois Society of oral & maxillofacial surgeons (ISOMS), vice-president of the Chicago Society of oral & maxillofacial surgeons (CSOMS), chair of the education committee of the ISDS and the oral cancer committee of the ISOMS.
